Use Google Webmaster Tool API to Add Top Search Queries and Top Pages to your Dashboard

You probably all know Google Webmaster Tools which provides detailed reports about your pages' visibility on Google. Few months ago, we wrote on the possibility to integrate Google Webmaster Tools API in DashThis to get Top Search Queries and Top Search Pages. Tired of waiting after a better API from Google, we decided to act and integrated Google Webmaster Tools in a different way.

Actually, it’s pretty simple to get Top Searched Queries and Top Pages from your Google Webmaster Tools account. You only have to add [email protected] as a restricted user of the profile you want to create a dashboard for.

What default widgets are available from the indicators drop down menu?

• Top Pages - Clicks
• Top Pages - Impressions
• Top Queries - Clicks
• Top Queries - Impressions
• Total Google CTR
• Total Google Impressions

What are the metrics and dimensions available?

Dimensions are:

• Searched Query
• Page

Metrics are:

• Clicks
• Impressions
• Average Position
• Click-Through-Rate (CTR)

Some notes:

• You must add [email protected] as a restricted user for every Google Webmaster Tools profile you want to create a dashboard for.
• Data source provider key is the URL of the website as found in GWT (ex.: dashthis.com).
• We can only load 3 months of data for the initial load.
